This Saturday throughout Shrewsbury Carnival and Show we will be collecting money for local charities and organisations here in Shrewsbury.
You can donate during the show in the Quarry Park or during the parade when you see someone carrying our official blue buckets with our logo on.
Last year’s parade raised around £2,000 which was added to other money raised through sponsorship and donations to make a grand total which was then given to over 20 successful applicants.
Following this year’s carnival, we will once again invite interested organisations to apply for a slice of the money by filling in an online form on this website. Those successful in securing a donation will be invited to a special presentation afternoon in September at The Lord Hill Hotel.
Shelley Oliver, Carnival Secretary said: “Shrewsbury Carnival is a great day of free entertainment, thanks to the support of local businesses. However, we do accept donations which goes into a fund that local charities and voluntary organisations can then apply for an amount of to support their cause.
“The ones that are chosen are then invited to attend a presentation evening where they will receive their donation and we also get to hear about all of their wonderful work.
“If you have any spare change on carnival day and can make a donation we would be most grateful, local charities and voluntary organisations are increasingly finding their funding sources drying up. As a local community event it’s fantastic we can give something back and support good causes. and with your generosity we can make a difference!”
