Two Shrewsbury Carnival team members are celebrating after receiving Mayor of Shrewsbury awards.
The awards are held each year and honour the town’s most dedicated citizens and organisations.
Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Miles Kenny, handed out the awards at a special ceremony, which took place at the Guildhall on Wednesday 27 April.
Kate Fejfer, was presented with a silver award in the community category for supporting our eastern European communities, sign-posting those to help, acting as an interpreter and helping them settle into life in Shrewsbury.
Shelley Oliver was presented with a special recognition award for her work in the local community which also includes her role as Carnival Secretary.
Councillor Kenny said: “It was a great evening celebrating those wonderful people and organisations who go that extra mile in making our town such a great place to be. I was so pleased to reward those who had given up their time and energy for our benefit and the benefit of others. Shrewsbury would be a lesser place without our local heroes. Congratulations to all.”
Both Shelley and Kate are part of our small team who are busy working on this year’s Shrewsbury Carnival & Show which takes place on Saturday 18th June 2016.
